Preferred name Maor Malul
What languages do you speak, and at what fluency level? (Please include your English proficiency.) ES-N; EN-5; LAD-4; PT-4; HE-3
What region(s) of the world do you have experience with, and what kind of experience do you have? (“Experience” can mean you have lived or worked there or are currently living or working there; you’re familiar with the culture and language; etc.) Born and raised in Venezuela; almost 12 years living in Israel
What Wikimedia project(s) do you actively edit? And in what language(s)? Mostly Wikipedia in the languages mentioned above. However, my focus is the Ladino Wikipedia
What affiliate(s) are you actively involved with? In what capacity are you involved? Do you serve in a leadership role or have you in the past? Member of Wikimedia Israel, Wikimedia Venezuela and WikiCemeteries User Group. Have served in the board of WMVE
Have you served on any committees (movement-related or otherwise)? And what was your role on the committee(s)? I have served in different roles in the AffCom in the past
Please describe any experience you have with conflict resolution and/or consensus building. I have received training in Conflict Resolution, and have served as a member of the Conflict Resolution Subcommittee of the AffCom
In your ideal world, what does the affiliate model and ecosystem look like? Wow, one where there is increased collaboration between affiliates and more "vertical" than "horzontal" growth; one where we understand there is cake for everyone, we just need to learn to share and teach others how to share, regardless of our personal differences
In your ideal world, what are AffCom’s roles and responsibilities in relation to the movement and affiliates? For me, the AffCom should be that steward that welcomes you, the affiliate, into the Wikimedia ecosystem, helps you take your first, baby steps and and is there to advise you on how to walk straight and avoid the little stones on the way; one that will help cool down any heated discussion and ensure that we are all on the same page and agree on how to move forward, like adults. But also the one who will warn you of something you are doing wrong but will sit down with you to help you correct the situation and will learn with you and from you
What role within AffCom are you most interested in: advisory or voting member? Unfortunately, I have some personal projects that require my dedication, so I don't have enough time to continue as a full voting member, but I'd love to continue supporting the committee as an advisor if needed
