I also took part in U4C Building Committee that drafted the charter for the U4C and was part of core organizing team of Wikimedia CEE Meeting 2024.
Please describe any experience you have with conflict resolution and/or consensus building. Per my volunteer roles, I handle many conflicts between users. I always try to listen both sides and find middle ground. Sometimes I must make hard decisions, but I explain reasons clearly. In my affiliate work, it's not always easy, but patience and respect help reach consensus. During my tenure as an advisor for AFFCOM I have been member of Conflicts Sub-Committee.
In your ideal world, what does the affiliate model and ecosystem look like? Ideal affiliate model should be flexible and support different types of groups. Big chapters and small user groups both important. Affiliates should work together more, share knowledge and resources. Less bureaucracy, more focus on local needs and impact. Clear rules but also freedom for innovation. Strong communication between affiliates and WMF needed.
In your ideal world, what are AffCom’s roles and responsibilities in relation to the movement and affiliates? In an ideal world AffCom should be bridge between affiliates and WMF. Help new groups form, support existing ones, ensure rules followed. But also listen to affiliate needs, advocate for them to WMF. AffCom should simplify processes, give useful advice. Should encourage collaboration between affiliates and help solve problems.
What role within AffCom are you most interested in: advisory or voting member? I am interested in voting member role. As steward and active affiliate member, I have good experience to make decisions. But I also value giving advice.
