  • Which sub-committee are you interested in working with (Conflict Intervention, Recognitions)?:
    Either - wherever there's a need for
  • What do you think are the benefits and responsibilities of functioning as formal affiliates, and when is a group of Wikimedians ready to form an affiliate?
  • Please describe your experience working with conflict resolution, and how you have helped build consensus and support diversity.
In my previous role as the Head of ICT Department, a significant conflict arose between two team members who were responsible for critical aspects of a project. The conflict stemmed from differing opinions on the project's approach, diversity, timelines, and resource allocation. I scheduled private meetings with each team member to understand their perspectives and concerns. This allowed me to gather insights into the root causes of the problem. During these meetings, I actively listened to each team member, acknowledging their viewpoints and diversity without judgment. This helped build trust and ensured that both individuals felt heard and understood. I facilitated a joint meeting where I emphasized the common goal of project success. Through careful mediation, I identified areas where their opinions aligned and common ground could be established. I encouraged open communication between the team members during the joint meeting. By setting ground rules and ensuring a respectful environment, they were able to express their concerns constructively. Together with the team members, we brainstormed potential solutions to address their concerns while aligning with project requirements. This collaborative approach empowered them to be part of the solution. Based on the agreed-upon solutions, we implemented changes to the project plan, ensuring that each team member's concerns and diversity were taken into account. This demonstrated a commitment to valuing their input.
