What experience do you have participating on committees, within or outside the Wikimedia movement?
I've been a member of the Africa and Middle East Grant Committee for the past two years, and Veronica, my supervisor, can attest to my active and regular involvement.
What skills, experience, or perspective would you bring or contribute to the committee, if appointed?
If my application is successful, I am convinced that I could bring significant added value as a French-speaking resident of West Africa. My profile would reinforce the goal of equity, which is a central concern of the Wikimedia Foundation. As an experienced contributor and project organizer, my leadership experience would be a valuable asset to the team. More importantly, my perspective would bring a new vision of a linguistic region so far less explored in terms of its involvement and participation in decision-making within the Wikimedia movement. My personal and professional experience in this region will enable me to make a significant contribution to broadening this perspective and integrating the voices of West Africa's French-speaking communities into the movement's decision-making process. I'm convinced that diversity of experience and viewpoint is essential for the growth and development of our community, and I'm determined to play an active role in this effort.

As a volunteer since 2019, I have had the opportunity to become actively involved in the Wikimedia community. My involvement has been particularly marked by my participation as a member of the Grant Committee for Africa and the Middle East. My role on this committee has enabled me to make a significant contribution to the selection and management of projects aimed at supporting Wikimedia initiatives in this geographical region. My experiences as a member of the Grants Committee have exposed me to a wide range of projects and initiatives in the Africa and Middle East region. I have had the opportunity to collaborate with contributors, organizations and local communities, which has enabled me to gain an in-depth understanding of the challenges and opportunities specific to this region. As an active volunteer, I also took part in the organization and implementation of local projects and events, contributing to the growth and vitality of the community.

What do you think are the benefits and responsibilities of functioning as formal affiliates, and when is a group of Wikimedians ready to form an affiliate?
Responsibilities of formal affiliates : Respect for the Wikimedia mission: Affiliates must respect the mission and fundamental principles of the Wikimedia Foundation, including neutrality, quality and the free dissemination of knowledge. Transparency and accountability: Affiliates must operate transparently and be accountable to the Wikimedia Foundation and the community for their activities, finances and governance. Community participation: Affiliates are encouraged to participate actively in the Wikimedia community and to collaborate with other affiliates and volunteer groups. Promoting diversity and equity: Affiliates are expected to promote diversity and equity in their communities and projects. Benefits of being a formal affiliate : Official recognition: Formal affiliates are officially recognized by the Wikimedia Foundation, strengthening their legitimacy within the community and in their interactions with other organizations and institutions. Access to resources: Affiliates can access resources and specific support from the Wikimedia Foundation, such as grants, licenses and easier access to Wikimedia projects. Ability to fundraise: Affiliates can raise funds more efficiently, enabling them to finance projects and activities related to the Wikimedia mission. Ability to organize international events: Formal affiliates are able to organize large-scale Wikimedia events, such as international conferences, fostering global collaboration and knowledge sharing. A group of Wikimedians is ready to become a formal affiliate when it can demonstrate its ability to meet the responsibilities implied above and to contribute significantly to the Wikimedia mission. This usually implies a certain degree of organizational maturity, substantial community support, and a solid understanding of the Wikimedia Foundation's processes and expectations. The procedure for affiliate training is defined by the Wikimedia Foundation and may vary depending on the type of affiliate.
Please describe your experience working with conflict resolution, and how you have helped build consensus and support diversity.
Through my work experience, I've had the opportunity to take part in several training courses provided by the Foundation, such as non-violent conversation and sociocracy... facilitating my active involvement in conflict resolution within various communities and teams. I've found that conflict management is essential to fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment. Here's how I've helped build consensus and support diversity through my experiences: Active listening and understanding: In conflict situations, I always start with active listening. This means paying sincere attention to the concerns and viewpoints of all parties involved. My aim was to understand the root causes of the conflict and the underlying needs. Neutral mediation: As a mediator, I took care to remain neutral and impartial. I encouraged the conflicting parties to speak freely, without fear of bias, and to express their feelings and needs. Open and constructive communication: I encouraged open and constructive communication between the parties involved. I encouraged the expression of ideas and solutions, and ensured that exchanges were respectful and focused on conflict resolution. Seeking common solutions: Rather than focusing on differences, I encouraged the parties to seek common solutions and identify points of agreement. I emphasized shared objectives and common interests in order to reach consensus. Diversity: In every conflict situation, I ensured that the voices and perspectives of people from diverse backgrounds were taken into account. I promoted the idea that a diversity of viewpoints enriches the discussion and leads to more robust solutions. Training and awareness-raising: Where appropriate, I organized training and awareness-raising sessions on conflict resolution, effective communication and promoting diversity. This helped strengthen the team's skills in these areas. Monitoring and evaluation: Following the resolution of a conflict, I ensured regular follow-up to ensure that the solutions implemented were effective and that consensus was maintained. Where necessary, adjustments were made. Overall, my contribution to conflict resolution focused on creating an environment where differences are valued, voices are heard and respected, and consensus is reached collaboratively.
