Wikimedia District of Columbia/Local outreach
District of Columbia Wikipedia editors want to do outreach within the DC area. We hope to reach out through existing projects to university students, women and galleries, libraries, archives and museums. We also want to reach out to local individuals and neighborhood organizations to improve the ethnic, racial and age diversity of editors. And we want to approach national organizations based in DC, to teach their employees and volunteers - many already editing Wikipeida - about how to edit Wikipedia with greater skill and help them deal with neutral point of view and dispute issues that inevitably arise. We also can encourage them to print articles to encourage their thousands of members to look into becoming Wikipedia editors on the subjects that are of greatest interest to them.
Below are some existing Wikipedia outreach projects and training resources to help us organize our own efforts in the District of Columbia.
