Wikimedia CH/WikiSwiss Award
A prize dedicated to the community volunteers
To recognize the extraordinary work done by the volunteers, this award is born which is dedicated to all those who collaborate on Wikimedia projects and the dissemination of free knowledge. Wikipedia was the first project, born in 2001, but without the community and without the enthusiasm of the volunteers, it would not have achieved the success it has today.
Volunteers deserve all the support for this.
2021 edition
To celebrate 20 years of Wikipedia, the prize will be awarded to users having these criteria:
- Active during 2020;
- Active for at least 5 years (i.e. since 2015);
- Have contributed at least with minimum 10’000 edits on the main namespace on the following Wikimedia projects: Wikipedia, Wikisource, Wikinews, Wikibooks, Wiktionary, Wikiquote, Wikiversity;
- Contribution in German, Italian, French, Alemannic or Romansh.
In addition to the previous four criteria, you should have at least two additional criteria:
- Living in Switzerland;
- Having contributed consistently to the Swiss related content (at least 50 edits and 1’000 bytes in a single article) in the main categories related to Switzerland.
In order to determine which people should be honoured, this list was created, which unfortunately is not complete yet. We therefore ask for your help! People who fulfil the mentioned conditions are asked to enter their name or to send a message to events
wikimedia.ch!
To carry out these honours, we invite long-serving, deserving members of the community to a ceremony in Lucerne to be held on 12 June 2021. Those to be honoured who cannot come due to space restrictions, health handicaps, state requirements, etc. will receive the certificate of honour by post.

- Throughout the event participants have to wear masks and should stay seated
- When walking around, participants shall keep a distance of 1.5 m

- Neubad Lucerne will provide QR codes on each table where participants have to register their presence.
