Abstract:

In 2024, the Wikimedia community ratified the Universal Code of Conduct and elections were held for the Coordination Committee (U4C). This committee’s role will be to implement the rules and the enforcement guidelines and ensure that everyone adheres to them (whether WMF's staff - affiliates - projects communities and users) and also conduct investigations if it is proven that any clear violations. The Universal Code of Conduct aims to address many recurring problems and will have a significant impact during the coming period.

I am currently an elected member of the committee representing the North Africa and Middle East region. Through the lecture, all matters about the Universal Code of Conduct and the Coordinating Committee will be explained, and what is its role in implementing the Code? What are the limits of its powers? What issues will we work on? How can any user or person complain or contact the committee?y

How will this session be beneficial for the communities in the region?

Users will be able to learn everything about the U4C and how to communicate with it when violations of conduct occur. They will also raise awareness for communities and affiliates about mistakes, how to correct its policies and rules to comply with the Universal code of conduct, and how the committee will cooperate on this issue.
