[edit]Documentation about multilingual global user pages
[edit]Hello Gradzeichen. Thanks for adding details about multilingual content to global user pages. I suggest moving your additions to mw:Help:Extension:GlobalUserPage, which has the full documentation about global user pages and is available to all users (not just Wikimedians). The global user pages page is a short overview for Wikimedia users, and it links to that page for more information. —Pathoschild 22:14, 10 January 2016 (UTC)
- Hi, I am not sure, if {{#babel:}} and {{userpage}} are available on every mediawiki-wiki? Therefore should the information not be available on both pages? Also, maybe the example could be a bit extended:
<div dir="ltr"> <!-- babelbox, displaying xx-0, if user does not understand the ui-language --> {{#babel:en|de-2| {{#switch: {{int:lang}} |en |de= |#default={{int:lang}}-0 }} }} <!-- start of page content --> {{#switch: {{int:lang}} |de-at |de-ch |de=Hallo Willkommen auf meiner Benutzerseite! |de-formal=Willkommen Ich begrüße Sie auf meiner Benutzerseite! |#default=Hello Welcome on my userpage! }} </div> <!-- userpage-template is already multilingual --> {{userpage}}
- Would you add the information to the mw-page? --° (Gradzeichen) 22:41, 10 January 2016 (UTC)
- We probably shouldn't have {{#babel}} and {{userpage}} in the example, since those aren't needed to enable multilingual content. I'd suggest expanding Help:User page (which is also linked from global user pages) with recommended content instead. —Pathoschild 22:47, 10 January 2016 (UTC)
- I think, It would be better to include #babel and {userpage} in the example, but leave it to you, what to do. I have created this page, but will do nothing more. --° (Gradzeichen)
Multilingual: Babel itself
[edit]Hi, °. Glad you appreciate my contributions.
Interestingly, at this point, if I change the interface language at my home page, the one piece of the page that doesn't change is ... the link at the top and bottom of the Babel box itself (i.e., User language and Users by language). Those do change on Wikidata and Commons, so why not here? StevenJ81 (talk) 13:48, 6 June 2016 (UTC)
- The babel box - at least its incarnation used on meta - is not a template, but a parser function. It cannot be changed like ordinary wikitext. To find out more about it's implemention and behavior on different wikimedia sites, you will probably need to talk to the developers of the software. the mediawiki ( ≠ wikimedia ) web site might be a starting point. --° (Gradzeichen) 17:43, 6 June 2016 (UTC)
New
[edit]re:tool-labs and java
[edit]Hello.
- I'm sorry because I can't help you in this point. I didn't reach this point yet.
- The java version installed in tool-labs is 1.7, So you can run only java projects that built with 1.7 or lower versions. As I tried before; you can't update java version in tool-labs, when you try to update it with command line; it gives you an error. The best solution to that is to change the jdk version you've used in you java project. If you use netbeans; you can change it by:
- Right click on the project. And then press properties.
- Change Source/binary format to jdk 7.
- From libraries tab; change java platform to jdk 1.7.
- Ok.

Help design a new feature to stop harassing emails
[edit]Hi there,
The Anti-Harassment Tools team plans to start develop of a new feature to allow users to restrict emails from new accounts. This feature will allow an individual user to stop harassing emails from coming through the Special:EmailUser system from abusive sockpuppeting accounts.
We’re inviting you to join the discussion because you voted or commented in the 2016 Community Wishlist discussion or IdeaLab discussion about letting users restrict who can send them email.
You can leave comments on this discussion page or send an email to the Anti-Harassment Tools team.
It is important to hear from a broad range of people who are interested in the design of the tool, so we hope you join the discussion.

The Community Wishlist Survey
[edit]Hi,
You get this message because you’ve previously participated in the Community Wishlist Survey. I just wanted to let you know that this year’s survey is now open for proposals. You can suggest technical changes until 11 November: Community Wishlist Survey 2019.
You can vote from November 16 to November 30. To keep the number of messages at a reasonable level, I won’t send out a separate reminder to you about that. /Johan (WMF) 11:24, 30 October 2018 (UTC)
The 2021 Community Wishlist Survey is now open! This survey is the process where communities decide what the Community Tech team should work on over the next year. We encourage everyone to submit proposals until the deadline on 30 November, or comment on other proposals to help make them better. The communities will vote on the proposals between 8 December and 21 December.
The Community Tech team is focused on tools for experienced Wikimedia editors. You can write proposals in any language, and we will translate them for you. Thank you, and we look forward to seeing your proposals!

We invite all registered users to vote on the 2021 Community Wishlist Survey. You can vote from now until 21 December for as many different wishes as you want.
In the Survey, wishes for new and improved tools for experienced editors are collected. After the voting, we will do our best to grant your wishes. We will start with the most popular ones.
We, the Community Tech, are one of the Wikimedia Foundation teams. We create and improve editing and wiki moderation tools. What we work on is decided based on results of the Community Wishlist Survey. Once a year, you can submit wishes. After two weeks, you can vote on the ones that you're most interested in. Next, we choose wishes from the survey to work on. Some of the wishes may be granted by volunteer developers or other teams.
We are waiting for your votes. Thank you!
