Hoi! Thanks for your translation, Patio. I am afraid however you have been worked on an outdated version dated May 2007 or so. For getting the latest version with January 2008 stats, please give a look to Translation requests/WMF/Our projects/source. Again, thanks so much!! --Aphaia 13:18, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

re: Translation/Translation requests/WMF/Our projects (nl) 20080408

[edit]

Hi Pathoschild,

(Copy from Aphaia's Talk Page) I made a beta version in Dutch and added an extra category to mark it as translated.
I guess a better way is to use another template so it comes in the category for proofread/correction or whatever.
Can you explain me how, please? Templates are one of my weakest points unfortunately, I'm happy that I can read them ;-).
Greetings and thanks in advance, your would-be translator Patio 13:21, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

Hi Patio,
You can change the status at the template put on the top of Translation requests/WMF/Our projects/nl, now there Dutch version is indicated as "nl /Nederlands (needs updating)". Since the current "beta" version seems not to be updated yet, it would be better for us not to call it "translated" or "proofreading", since it needs more update & translation in my opinion.
If you would like to merge your user subpage version and the current one, please let me or any other meta admins know that.
If you have further questions about this "status" template, ask User:Pathoschild for information (He created it so has the best knowledge). Cheers,--Aphaia 13:50, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

(end Copy)

Updated en removed extra Category as per Aphaia's request. How to change status to 'proofread' or something when applicable?
Thanks in advance for an answer Patio 10:58, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

Hello Patio. Sorry for the delay in responding. You can do it by editing Template:Translation/Translation requests/WMF/Our projects. In the edit box, there is this line: " |nl |needs updating". Simply change "needs updating" to "done" (or one of the other statuses listed at the top of the edit box). —{admin} Pathoschild 19:13:38, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

Thank you. I used "Proofreading". Some feedback of colleagues is always handy. Patio 09:08, 26 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi! I noticed you're listed at Category:Translators eng-nld. Would you mind proofreading the Dutch version of Soft redirect (located here)? I basically just copied the page from nlwiki, but I would appreciate if a fluent speaker verified if what I added makes any sense at all :) Regards, Jafeluv 16:10, 25 May 2010 (UTC)

Fundraising translation feedback 2013040118.8

[edit]

Hey Patio,

I wanted to ask for your help. As you may be aware we have been running banners on many language wikis. We have a lot of new content this year and I really want to conduct a thorough review of our translations. This is a combination of feedback from the community, readers, donors as well as those with professional translator experience. This will help us ensure the highest quality of translations used in our messaging.

To help us out with this I wonder if you would be willing to give us feedback for Dutch using This Link

Simply follow the simple instructions on that page and if you have any questions feel free to contact me on my talk page.

Many Thanks

Superprotect letter update 2015082618.7

[edit]

Hi Patio,

Along with more hundreds of others, you recently signed Letter to Wikimedia Foundation: Superprotect and Media Viewer, which I wrote.

Today, we have 562 signatures here on Meta, and another 61 on change.org, for a total of 623 signatures. Volunteers have fully translated it into 16 languages, and begun other translations. This far exceeds my most optimistic hopes about how many might sign the letter -- I would have been pleased to gain 200 siguatures -- but new signatures continue to come.

I believe this is a significant moment for Wikimedia and Wikipedia. Very rarely have I seen large numbers of people from multiple language and project communities speak with a unified voice. As I understand it, we are unified in a desire for the Wikimedia Foundation to respect -- in actions, in addition to words -- the will of the community who has built the Wikimedia projects for the benefit of all humanity. I strongly believe it is possible to innovate and improve our software tools, together with the Wikimedia Foundation. But substantial changes are necessary in order for us to work together smoothly and productively. I believe this letter identifies important actions that will strongly support those changes.

Have you been discussing these issues in your local community? If so, I think we would all appreciate an update (on the letter's talk page) about how those discussions have gone, and what people are saying. If not, please be bold and start a discussoin on your Village Pump, or in any other venue your project uses -- and then leave a summary of what kind of response you get on the letter's talk page.

Finally, what do you think is the right time, and the right way, to deliver this letter? We could set a date, or establish a threshold of signatures. I have some ideas, but am open to suggestions.

Thank you for your engagement on this issue, and please stay in touch. -Pete F (talk) 18:39, 26 August 2014 (UTC)

Hoi KlaasZ4usV, goed punt. Mvg, Taketa (talk) 07:51, 9 May 2015 (UTC)

Hallo KlaasZ4usV,

I've read your request at italian Wiktionary Bar. If you want you can locally ask the deletion of your user page simply adding the template {{Cancella|"reason"}} at the top of your page. However, if you need to delete your user page on many projects you can read this page. A bot will delete your UP and your Meta User page will be shown. --Nastoshka (talk) 20:16, 24 October 2015 (UTC)

I don't know who is globally blocked (at least not you, and not JurgenNL), and why do you edit his user page here? If you have some comments leave them to his user talk page. I don't think that he wants that your comment is now shown on his user page on the Dutch Wikipedia (nl:User:JurgenNL). --Stryn (talk) 06:55, 18 May 2016 (UTC)

Ciao Stryn,
You're right. That's what Kukkie should have done, but: removing/editing of other people wherever they make them, is not done. That's why I reverted your edit, capisci?  Klaas `Z4␟` V:  07:02, 18 May 2016 (UTC)
P.S. I wonder how you know what other people want…
Oh, yeah, it was Kukkie, who wrote the message, not you, sorry. Well, it may vary of the project how people handle this kind of things. I have always reverted edits to others user pages. But let it be there then, I don't like edit warring about nonsense things. --Stryn (talk) 07:11, 18 May 2016 (UTC)
Right. The message was very positive, that's why removing is wrong IMNSHO  Klaas `Z4␟` V:  09:21, 18 May 2016 (UTC)

2016 Community Wishlist Survey 2016111411.3

[edit]

Hi,

You’re getting this message because you participated in the 2015 Community Wishlist Survey and we want to make sure you don't miss it this year – or at least can make the conscious choice to ignore if it you want to. The 2015 survey decided what the Community Tech team should work on during 2016. It was also the focus of Wikimedia hackathons and work by other developers. You can see the status of wishes from the 2015 wishlist at 2015 Community Wishlist Survey/Results.

The 2016 Community Wishlist Survey is now open for wishes. You can create proposals until November 20. You will be able to vote on which wishes you think are best or most important between November 28 and December 12. /Johan (WMF) (talk) via MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 11:17, 14 November 2016 (UTC)

[edit]

There has been a request to inform all who voted in the RfC about interlinking accounts involved with paid editing about the following adjustment in the "statement of issue" on Sept 18th, 2017.

It was clarified that this effort will help deal not only with impersonation of specific Wikipedians but also claims of being in good standing made by those who are not.[1] Thanks. Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 19:59, 26 September 2017 (UTC)

Thank you, Doc James. Makes my support even stronger than it already was. Disclosure of real name and/or name of/at paying company an obligation to avoid impersonation and possibility to make possible confusion with an existing other Wikipedian who does not get paid for her/his contribution by a third party and/or WMF/local chapter/whatever... Klaas `Z4␟` V:  20:21, 26 September 2017 (UTC)

Template Wizard script available for testing 2018032822.7

[edit]

Hello. I'm contacting you because you voted for the Infobox Wizard in the 2017 Community Wishlist Survey.

The Infobox Wizard has gotten an upgrade - it's now a Template Wizard which works for infoboxes and all other templates. The feature is being developed as an extension (which will allow for localization) but there is a prototype user script which works well.

The Wishlist Team would love it if you could take a few minutes to try the Template Wizard prototype script out and give us feedback on whether it lives up to your expectations. This feedback will help build the script into an extension. To get started, add the following to your Special:MyPage/common.js -

mw.loader.load( 'https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Samwilson/TemplateWizard.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript' );

The Template Wizard will show up as a puzzle-piece icon in the 2010 WikiEditor. You can click on the icon to insert a template. Your thoughts are needed on whether it makes sense for the wizard to be available for all users by default or if there should be a preference for it. If it's a preference, what should the default be? Please leave your feedback here. Thank you! -- Keegan (WMF) (talk) 22:42, 28 March 2018 (UTC)

RE: Niet actief? 2018090709.5

[edit]

Klaas `Z4␟` V:  09:30, 7 September 2018 (UTC)

Structured Data - file captions coming this week (January 2019) 2019010721.2

[edit]

My apologies if this is a duplicate message for you, it is being sent to multiple lists which you may be signed up for.

Hi all, following up on last month's announcement...

Multilingual file captions will be released this week, on either Wednesday, 9 January or Thursday, 10 January 2019. Captions are a feature to add short, translatable descriptions to files. Here's some links you might want to look follow before the release, if you haven't already:

  1. Read over the help page for using captions - I wrote the page on mediawiki.org because captions are available for any MediaWiki user, feel free to host/modify a copy of the page here on Commons.
  2. Test out using captions on Beta Commons.
  3. Leave feedback about the test on the captions test talk page, if you have anything you'd like to say prior to release.

Additionally, there will be an IRC office hour on Thursday, 10 January with the Structured Data team to talk about file captions, as well as anything else the community may be interested in. Date/time conversion, as well as a link to join, are on Meta.

Thanks for your time, I look forward to seeing those who can make it to the IRC office hour on Thursday. -- Keegan (WMF) (talk) 21:09, 7 January 2019 (UTC)

While there are four languages that are especially relevant for multiple affiliates (namely Arabic, French, Russian and Spanish), we are asking your help for Chinese, Ukrainian, Bengali, Czech, Hungarian, Romanian, Italian, Korean, Portuguese, Polish, Farsi, German, Cantonese, Finnish, Hindi, Thai, Dutch, and Greek, as these also matter to affiliates! If you can't help: please see if you know anyone in your circle who could, and spread the word :) Thank you! Elitre (WMF) and Facilitators of ASBS 2019, 21:35, 24 April 2019 (UTC)

User script to access other watchlists 2019060605.8

[edit]

Hi KlaasZ4usV,

If you remember, you participated in the 2019 Community Wishlist Survey, including the discussion for reviving "Crosswatch" to allow for cross-wiki watchlists (Community Wishlist Survey 2019/Watchlists/Revive Crosswatch tool).

I sent you this MassMessage because I wanted to let you know that I have made a user script to make accessing your watchlists on different wikis easier, since for now that wishlist item has not been actioned.

The way it works is that, on any wiki, when you look at your watchlist, there is a button labeled "CA" that takes you to the CentralAuth page for you. There, when looking at your own information, each link to a wiki ("meta.wikimedia.org", "www.wikidata.org", "de.wikipedia.org", etc.) is changed so that it links to your watchlist on that wiki.

If you are interested in using it, just add mw.loader.load('//meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:DannyS712/Watchlist.js&action=raw&ctype=text/javascript'); to your global javascript page. This imports the code at m:User:DannyS712/Watchlist.js.

If you want to learn more, there is documentation for the script available at w:en:User:DannyS712/Watchlist. If you would like to discuss the script, talk to me at m:User talk:DannyS712.

Thanks, --05:50, 6 June 2019 (UTC)

Structured Data - blogs posted in Wikimedia Space 2019092321.6

[edit]

There are two separate blog entries for Structured Data on Commons posted to Wikimedia Space that are of interest:

  • Working with Structured Data on Commons: A Status Report, by Lucas Werkmeister, discusses some ways that editors can work with structured data. Topics include tools that have been written or modified for structured data, in addition to future plans for tools and querying services.
  • Structured Data on Commons - A Blog Series, written by me, is a five-part posting that covers the basics of the software and features that were built to make structured data happen. The series is meant to be friendly to those who may have some knowledge of Commons, but may not know much about the structured data project.
I hope these are informative and useful, comments and questions are welcome. All the blogs offer a comment feature, and you can log in with your Wikimedia account using oAuth. I look forward to seeing some posts over there. -- Keegan (WMF) (talk) 21:33, 23 September 2019 (UTC)

Kind regards, Klaas ‌ V 08:13, 21 October 2012 (UTC)

Hi, is it an appropriate thing to say when GAC members are probably better respected for reviewing in terms of the WMF's priorities, without fear or favour to one group or another? Tony (talk) 13:55, 8 December 2013 (UTC)

I don't mean GAC members, but all "normal" editors wherever they are hailing or coming from, were born, what their religion, nationality or whatever is. Sorry for the confusion my statement may have brought to you and/or others. Should I rephrase it or can you as a native speaker of English do it better? Probably! Thanks anyways. Bottomline: I'm still angry at NSA and their employers. European politicians however are far from "saints" as well, some of them are worse than Barack Obama c.s., believe you me... Kind regards,  Klaas|Z4␟V:  14:16, 8 December 2013 (UTC)
There are liars. damned liars, and politicians
Oh, don't get me wrong: I'm angry too, and so should Europeans be. But this seems to be getting mixed in with an application for funding for a wiki conference. Perhaps separate the two? Tony (talk) 14:28, 8 December 2013 (UTC)
You're right, Tony. Deleted the political part. I find the amount too high though.  Klaas|Z4␟V:  21:53, 8 December 2013 (UTC)
Nice. Yes, the too high is hard to judge without sufficient details. In my view, the onus should be on applicants to provide these details, not for us to have to extract them bit by bit through a labour-intensive process on the talk page. I'm working on some more explanatory guidelines for such details for the staff and the GAC to consider. Tony (talk) 04:19, 9 December 2013 (UTC)

Letter petitioning WMF to reverse recent decitions 2014082022.6

[edit]

The Wikimedia Foundation recently created a new feature, "superprotect" status. The purpose is to prevent pages from being edited by elected administrators -- but permitting WMF staff to edit them. It has been put to use in only one case: to protect the deployment of the Media Viewer software on German Wikipedia, in defiance of a clear decision of that community to disable the feature by default, unless users decide to enable it.

If you oppose these actions, please add your name to this letter. If you know non-Wikimedians who support our vision for the free sharing of knowledge, and would like to add their names to the list, please ask them to sign an identical version of the letter on change.org.

I'm notifying you because you participated in one of several relevant discussions. -Pete F (talk) 22:25, 20 August 2014 (UTC)

How can we improve Wikimedia grants to support you better? 2015081901.4

[edit]

Hi! The Wikimedia Foundation would like your input on how we can reimagine Wikimedia Foundation grants to better support people and ideas in your Wikimedia project.

After reading the Reimagining WMF grants idea, we ask you to complete this survey to help us improve the idea and learn more about your experience. When you complete the survey, you can enter to win one of five Wikimedia globe sweatshirts!

In addition to taking the the survey, you are welcome to participate in these ways:

This survey is in English, but feedback on the discussion page is welcome in any language.

With thanks,

Inspire Campaign on content curation & review 2016022905.6

[edit]

I've recently launched an Inspire Campaign to encourage new ideas focusing on content review and curation in Wikimedia projects. Wikimedia volunteers collaboratively manage vast repositories of knowledge, and we’re looking for your ideas about how to manage that knowledge to make it more meaningful and accessible. We invite you to participate and submit ideas, so please get involved today! The campaign runs until March 28th.

All proposals are welcome - research projects, technical solutions, community organizing and outreach initiatives, or something completely new! Funding is available from the Wikimedia Foundation for projects that need financial support. Constructive feedback on ideas is welcome - your skills and experience can help bring someone else’s project to life. Join us at the Inspire Campaign to improve review and curation tasks so that we can make our content more meaningful and accessible! I JethroBT (WMF) 05:38, 29 February 2016 (UTC)

(Opt-out Instructions) This message was sent by I JethroBT (WMF) (talk · contribs) through MediaWiki message delivery.

Through June, we’re organizing an Inspire Campaign to encourage and support new ideas focusing on addressing harassment toward Wikimedia contributors. The 2015 Harassment Survey has shown evidence that harassment in various forms - name calling, threats, discrimination, stalking, and impersonation, among others - is pervasive. Available methods and systems to deal with harassment are also considered to be ineffective. These behaviors are clearly harmful, and in addition, many individuals who experience or witness harassment participate less in Wikimedia projects or stop contributing entirely.

Proposals in any language are welcome during the campaign - research projects, technical solutions, community organizing and outreach initiatives, or something completely new! Funding is available from the Wikimedia Foundation for projects that need financial support. Constructive feedback on ideas is appreciated, and collaboration is encouraged - your skills and experience may help bring someone else’s project to life. Join us at the Inspire Campaign so that we can work together to develop ideas around this important and difficult issue. With thanks,

I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 17:46, 31 May 2016 (UTC) (Opt-out instructions)

Groningse Wikipedia and Wiktionary 201803020510

[edit]

Moi Kloas,

Can you read and write Gronings? As I saw that you were interested in contributing to Groninger Wikipedia articles, so why not join the Low-Saxon Wikipedia or the Low-Saxon Wiktionary? I am planning on joining after I’ve imported a few books to the English Wikisource and Gronings is quite an interesting language to write. Though I speak Gronings my largest issue is with the divergent and non-standard forms of spelling, if you speak Cityspeak (Stads) or Westwoods (Westerwolders) you could probably align your spelling more with that of other Low-Saxon dialects, but there’s this handy guide for writing Gronings as we all can speak it, but people very rarely write it. Just check those Wikimedia projects out if you’re interested, is there a Groninger version of OmegaWiki?

Did you know that the Low-Saxon version of Wikipedia has their own flag? (in Gronings) --Donald Trung (Talk 🤳🏻) (My global lock 🔒) (My global unlock 🔓) 15:17, 18 December 2017 (UTC)

At OmegaWiki we support Low Saxon, Donald. Sorry for my late answer, I rarely visit this talkPage.
