Query: Online community event and getting fund

[edit]

Hi Team, @Nitesh (CIS-A2K):

In Tamil Wikipedia, we have planned to conduct a '3 months drive' on clean-up of identified articles. It is an online event and has been planned to involve regular current users to participate significantly. Since it is a clean-up / improvement of content, we believe that we cannot make it as a contest. Instead, we have a thought of recognizing the users, by providing a gift / memento gift to them. Shall we get fund from CIS-A2K for this kind recognition to the partcipants?

In addition to the above primary question, I have secondary question also. This '3 month drive' starts on 01-Apr-2023. If CIS-A2K approves this initiative for fund support, we will provide the gift to the participants in the first week of Jul'23 only. Hence, we have sufficient time among start of the drive, fund request, approval of request, buying gifts, distribution of gifts. I just want to confirm with you that whether these timelines are fine with CIS-A2K.

BTW, I am good with understanding of policies and guidelines to raise the request for fund support. Thanks and Regards --M. Selvasivagurunathan (talk) 07:13, 30 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Dear @M. Selvasivagurunathan, thank you so much for reaching out to us. That's a good idea and we always appreciate the efforts of Tamil Wikimedians for their wonderful activities. CIS-A2K can support the request or the event only if you will submit your request according to the template questions. I can tell you how you can put your request on the request page eg. requestee needs to be gone through with the policy, answers should be according to the questions, VP discussion is needed, support from the community is also required, and you have to put the link of the event, expected outcomes must be mentioned with proper matrix and budget breakout should be clear and event report also be submitted after the event. Also, requests will take a maximum of 30 days to review and answer if the amount is less than 40,000 rs.

A few more things in advance, A2K can not provide the advance. If the community needs to provide swags to the participants then CIS-A2K would purchase and send them to all participants but yes, the swag choice and design related to it will be decided by the community only. In the end, A2K can support but I can not commit before getting the request, it is depend on your request only. If you need any support from me I am always here to support. Dear @Nitesh (CIS-A2K): We appreciate your time on the detailed response. Sure, we will work on things which are suggested by you; will submit the request as soon as possible. —-M. Selvasivagurunathan (talk) 16:49, 4 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
