Good question, and one you've raised with some consistency - obviously a very important issue. For right now, we're just encouraging people to contact the election committee, but if that changes it's important to put it in the FAQ, I agree. Thanks! Philippe 13:55, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

As far as I personally understand, we Eleccom don't prohibit argument against candidates, but at the same time we are sure it is not the objective of "Endorsement" page. You may ask a question on their question page. --Aphaia 13:32, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

Endorsements and Criteria Confusion

I had endorsed a candidate, and had it stricken because of lack of 400 edits by June 1. I misread the Criteria for Endorsement as having needed the 3 months edit history prior to June 1 and 400 edits (assumed at time of nomination.) I would have understood the instructions much better if it had said, "Criteria for endorsement are the same as criteria to vote: users endorsing must have 400 edits in any namespace or combination of namespaces on a single Wikimedia project by June 1, 2007, and at least 3 months edit history prior to June 1, 2007." The Voting instructions in the FAQ are much clearer in this regard; I'm sure I'm not the only person looking at endorsing people without having read the voting criteria before. Just sayin'. 2 Problematic endorsements

Bandwagon effect

We toyed with the idea of limiting it at a certain number (probably not 12... need to allow for folks to pull out at the last minute, and for endorsements to be disqualified.) That's something I think we'd all like to think about for next time. Philippe 03:27, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

endorsements closed?

I just got an email telling me I'm eligible to vote, and should do so by July 7th. But this page says endorsements are closed. What have I missed? Raining girl 01:20, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

Okay, I worked that out - it's votes not endorsements. Now, no matter what route I take I'm being told I'm not able to vote and I have to link through from my home wiki. Well, I did. I've got the edits and I linked through from main wikipedia. No wonder only 16% of people have voted... Raining girl 01:34, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

Me too, I got an email saying it's so important for me to vote, now I got here and it says endorsements are now closed and I can't vote. It's far too complicated, it was even hard to find the right page for voting. I'm surprised even 16% voted, to be honest. It needs to be made user friendly if you want people to do it, or people will just give up, after half an hour of getting nowhere.Merkinsmum 11:27, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for your interest, but the mail wasn't sent by us. Please contact its sender, he or she might lead you where you can vote. There are over 600 wikis and we have no clue where you come from, we cannot show you where you are eligible to vote. You might find the right way at Board elections/jump. Aphaia, your response there was really unhelpful and inconsiderate. Do you treat all English speakers this way, or only ones you think have heard from me? That username is only eligible on a single project, enwiki, it took me all of 5 seconds to search for it in the voter lists. Does it not bother you at all that there are still people pouring into the endorsements page and walking away thinking that voting is broken? I am afraid you think me of a bad faith, I hope not so. I don't know simply his or her, and as far as I recall correctly, there are three project mailing campaign have happened, and it was 12 hours ago I got this information. You had several options... you could have given her generic instructions which would work for anyone. (Go to the list, if you came from a wikipedia, pick the right language in the Wikipedia column, if you came from wikibooks, pick the right language in that column), you could have looked in the list of eligible voters, saw there was only one Merkinsmum and assumed it was her, you could take a guess at what project they came from and say "If you came from english wikipedia, go here, if you came from commons...", or... you could blow the person off and be almost completely unhelpful. To a frustrated person, having the election com head say "sorry, can't help you, go ask someone else" is just a terribly upsetting thing.

And still, many people are totally confused by the links to "Endorsements" yet no one is doing anything about it, and the page is protected so others who are interested can't. I know you are very busy and trying very hard, but it is very frustrating to me to see community members chased away as she was above. --Gmaxwell 12:14, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

I wonder why you have a time to comment on meta but leave my inquiry about your action. I personally think it is not fair you expect me to reply your comment, while you yourself leave me in such a way. Also I heard you leave another letter from another Eleccom member.
