Wikinews is a free content news-source project. It's being continually improved by users reporting neutral and sourced news from all over the world. Wikinews aims to provide a neutral source of information. This project was proposed in January 2003, in November 2004 a test was created and in December 2004 the project was launched in English and German. Wikinews is the only project, apart from Wikimedia Commons, to be licensed under the Creative Commons Attributions 2.5 license.

On April 29, 2006 the English project reached 5000 news articles.
