Goals

[edit]

Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went? Yes I met my goals. I hosted 4 edit-a thon and had a mix of new and old editors. However before the start date i spoke to some people about Wikipedia. They were so eager to participate that i was forced to train them before the start date. Another happy moment for me was training a 73 year old retiree who joined as a new editor in the first edit a thon project. She became addicted to wiki edit a thon experience and participated in most of the project.

Outcome

[edit]

Please report on your original project targets.

Target outcome Achieved outcome Explanation
Proposed 4 events 4 events
Number of Participants 30 42 Total number of editors for the 4 events
Number of New Editors 12 12 total number of people that worked on the wiktionary project for the first time
Number of Articles created or improved 50 117 We exceed our target
Number of repeat participants 15 30 total number of editors that repeated in the events.

Learning

[edit]

Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:

  • What worked well?

organizing a pre training really helped me throughout the event because they helped train the other participants. Another fun part was debating and reaching on a consensus before a word is created.

  • What did not work so well?

The venue i wanted to use initially could not offer rentage services by the time i was ready to commence the project. the projected cost was $800 (288,000 Naira) for the 4 events. i had to rent another meeting room at the cost of $880 (316,800 Naira) for the 4 events

  • What would you do differently next time?

I will organize the pre training events not only for new editors but for old editors who have not been steadily editing or who have not stayed long with the foundation
