Chinese character
[edit]- Disclaimer: I don't know Chinese nor Japanese and don't have much experience with modern texts in either language, so I might be mistaken on this.
Since Japanese kana is already shown on another tile, I guess the 漢 serves to represent (traditional) Chinese. If I'm not mistaken, the way it is rendered here is typical not for Chinese but Japanese fonts. If you have Chinese and Japanese fonts installed and your software is properly set up, you may see the difference here:
- 漢/漢/漢 (Chinese)
- 漢 (Japanese)
In Japanese fonts, the upper part usually consists of an H with the horizontal bar sticking out on both sides, whereas in traditional Chinese fonts, such H sits on a short horizontal base which sits on the top end of the vertical stroke, so that the character's upper part looks a bit like a slingshot.
I'm just saying so this won't be used as an actual logo in its current form. 23:08, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
- Don't worry; that was just a temporary Chinese letter until I could fix a glitch in the SVG editor. The current letter can be seen here. Smurrayinchester 22:09, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
