English: A bicycle is an important tool in every day’s life of the rural Rwandans. Used to transport people to places, as a taxi, and also as a transport system to move goods to one place to another.
This picture depicts a man carrying approximately 200 Kilos of his corn harvest from his field. This picture was taken in Burera, a northern mountainous district of Rwanda where, due to the steep landscapes, it requires the physical stamina to ride a bike that uses the mechanical force to drive. The green plantation that can be seen in the background of this picture is the tea plantation, which famously known internationally as the “Rwandan tea”.
