Designed and built by the Rev. W.J.R Morris in 1864, opened on "Advent Sunday" of 1865, and inaugurated by the Bishop Robert Gray on "Ascention Day" 1866. By circa 1880 the church had grown to approximately 400 members (120 families). The church was sold to the local authority in 1986 and currently houses the distric tourism office.
