Summary

Description
English: :Audio extracted from video, available at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOxAbHqY7HE.
Superb lyrebird in the next door back yard (about 20 m away) with imitations including a water sprinkler, satin bowerbird, eastern whipbird (?), channel-billed cuckoo; kookaburra; rainbow lorikeets; plus it's standing call and natural calls. It usually is further down in the bush but on occasion it comes up closer to backyards to forage for insects.
I have tried to get close to them a few times now, and have seen them each time and been a few metres from them, but before I could start recording it flew/jump-glided and/or ran away. On one occasion I was meditating in the bush, next to a dense patch of bushes, and heard something moving, getting closer. After some minutes I stood up to see what it was, and thought I had start recording it as it walked away, but accidentally missed that part, but recorded the part where I was hiding behind the bushes, as well as a mound that it may use:

  • Brown thornbill alarm calls?
A pied currawong came and was gradually getting closer to it, and was obviously curious.
Feel free to send me additions for other imitations, background subspecies or suggestions.
