English: Jou Kondhei/Jau Kandhei is a traditional terracotta doll from the Balasore region of present day Odisha, India. These dolls are gifted to newlyweds as a symbol of love. Traditionally, the dolls are always gifted as a set of a female and a male doll and not separately. The bead like structure on the dolls are because of the use of w:lac. Traditionally, organic colors used to be used for painting the dolls where acrylic paints are used these days.
