Description
English: Ostrich (Struthio camelus). Specimen of ostrich skeleton prepared by the bone maceration technique and on display at the Museum of Veterinary Anatomy FMVZ USP.

Adults may have a height from 1.7 to 2.5 m and a weight of 150 kg. They have excellent eyesight and hearing, having the biggest eyes among vertebrates. They have three stomachs and the largest eggs among birds, coming to weight 1.3 kg. Ostriches can run up to 70 km/h to avoid predators. They eat seeds, fruits, grass and flowers.

This file was published as the result of a partnership between the Museum of Veterinary Anatomy FMVZ USP, the RIDC NeuroMat and the Wikimedia Community User Group Brasil. This GLAM project is reported.
